Traditions Around the Orthodox World – Pyzanski

Pysanky is a style of decorating which comes from the Slavic regions of the world. The designs are created by using a stylus to draw wax patterns on the eggs. The layers of color are then added and the wax removed layer by layer.

There is symbolism in the motifs and colors, many of which are easily found on wikipedia.

Pyzanky styles traditionally depend on region. Below are some Ukrainian Examples

The eggs are in the Carpathian style and vary slightly from the Ukrainian eggs in colors and themes
