The Dormition of the Theotokos–Part 3: The Theotokos Makes Ready
Now the virgin Mary had been living all this time with the evangelist and disciple John, who served her like a true son all the days of her life. He never left her side and only rarely traveled outside of Jerusalem with her blessing. When the Virgin returned from her prayer on the Mount of Olives, she told all that occurred to John, showed him the flowing palm branch from paradise and directed that it be carried in front of her bier. She also told the rest of the household and the virgins, Mary Magdalene, Sepphora, Abigail and Jael who dwelt with her. When they bewailed her departure, she assured them that she would intercede for them before her Son.
